Bacardi-Martini celebrated the 150th anniversary of Bacardi, one of the world’s best-known and most historic rum brands, with the release of an exclusive limited-edition aged rum valued at $2,000 per bottle.
Eight Master Blenders from the Bacardi family, all direct descendants of Don Facundo Bacardí, the company’s founder, joined forces to create what was intended to be an extraordinary expression of the house’s rum-making heritage. For the blend, they selected and combined different rums that had been ageing in barrels for more than two decades.
The result was De Maestros de Ron Vintage MMXII, a highly limited release characterized by an intensely aromatic profile, a generous full body and an elegant, delicate finish. It was bottled at 43% ABV.
On the nose, the rum reveals a broad spectrum of tropical fruits and sweet floral notes, balanced by delicate aromas of vanilla and oak.
The bottle itself is a work of art. The rum is presented in a hand-blown crystal decanter, with each bottle individually numbered and bearing its own distinctive seal.
Only 1,000 bottles were produced, of which approximately 400 were made available to the public.
Over the years, Bacardi evolved from a family business known primarily for the rum bearing its name into a global spirits group with a broad portfolio extending beyond rum into vodka, gin, Scotch whisky, tequila and other categories.
The limited-edition Bacardi De Maestros de Ron Vintage MMXII was made available through selected duty-free retailers worldwide from late February 2012.
