Sri Lanka, formerly known as Ceylon, is renowned for its stunning beaches and exquisite Ceylon tea. The country gained fame through a civil war that began in the 1970s and persisted with various ceasefires and conflicts until a peace agreement was signed in 2015. Since then, tourism has remarkably rebounded.
The Wild Coast Tented Lodge is situated near Yala National Park in southern Sri Lanka, where the jungle covering the island meets the pristine shores of the Indian Ocean. This means you can go on a safari to track leopards one day and dive into the ocean to search for giant turtles the next.

The lodge, perched on a small cliff above the shore, is composed of tents that are essentially canvas stretched over frames made of locally sourced wooden poles. These tents form shapes reminiscent of the plants and rocks of the region, seamlessly blending into the surroundings. The tents come in various sizes, and most of them offer a variety of indulgences along with a view of the green and blue landscape that penetrates through the round windows or the transparent entrance door. Some of the tents even feature a private pool.

“The meals are served in a large, pavilion-like structure next to the pool, where a restaurant operates offering an international menu alongside local dishes, complemented by a nearby bar. Additionally, guests can order a beachfront meal, and those with culinary inclinations are invited to cook and season their own meals from a variety of provided ingredients, under the watchful eye of one of the chefs.
You can embark on a multi-day safari in the nearby jungle, with a focus on photography enthusiasts, or enjoy a selection of water sports on the adjacent beach.
