Rocky Patel DBS
The DBS is one of Rocky Patel’s most personal projects. After years of working with Broadleaf tobacco at the Tavicusa factory in Estelí, Nicaragua, Patel developed a blend that places this distinctive leaf at the very heart of the cigar. Hence the name DBS – Double Broadleaf Selection. While the initials may remind enthusiasts of the Aston Martin DBS and the iconic James Bond image, the true purpose is to showcase the remarkable depth and complexity that carefully fermented and meticulously selected Broadleaf tobacco can deliver.
The Sixty (6 × 60) vitola allows the blend to express itself exactly as Patel intended. It features a rich Mexican San Andrés Maduro wrapper, grown in volcanic soil, over dual Broadleaf binders from Nicaragua and Pennsylvania, with a filler composed of premium tobaccos from Honduras and Nicaragua.
Combining three Broadleaf components requires extended aging and meticulous humidity control to ensure an even burn and flawless construction. The result is a full-bodied smoking experience with excellent combustion and a smooth, gradual progression of flavors from beginning to end, without abrupt transitions. Broad-shouldered in both size and character, the DBS highlights Rocky Patel’s technical precision and blending expertise, making it an ideal choice for smokers eager to explore the unique personality and richness of Broadleaf tobacco.
