Château Haut-Brion stands among the most influential wine estates in Bordeaux and is the only one of the five Premier Grand Cru Classé properties not located in the Médoc, but rather in Pessac-Léognan within the Graves appellation. Its history dates back to the 16th century, and it is widely regarded as the first Bordeaux estate to produce wines in what became known as the “New French Claret” style—structured, rich wines with remarkable aging potential.

Its geographical setting is unique: situated on the outskirts of the city of Bordeaux, the vineyard rests on a flat plateau composed of gravel and rounded pebbles. This exceptional terroir, combined with excellent drainage and a temperate climate, plays a crucial role in the outstanding quality of its Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Cabernet Franc grapes.
As early as the 17th century, the renowned English philosopher John Locke wrote about Haut-Brion, a testament to the estate’s early international acclaim. Today, it is owned by Prince Robert of Luxembourg and continues to preserve its heritage and prestigious reputation with meticulous care.

The estate’s pinnacle expression is the Château Haut-Brion Premier Grand Cru Classé, its flagship red wine. Primarily crafted from Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, it is celebrated for its extraordinary complexity, offering concentrated flavors of dark berries, tobacco, and leather, alongside a velvety texture. With exceptional aging potential, it can evolve gracefully in the bottle for decades. Outstanding vintages such as 1989, 2005, and 2009 are highly sought after by collectors worldwide.
