In the picturesque small town of Gimli in the province of Manitoba, Canada, lies the Seagram’s distillery, the ‘mother’ of Crown Royal whisky. The region is rich in rye cultivation, the grain that serves as the foundation of Canadian whisky. The distinctive aromas and flavors of rye are the prominent characteristics of the drink, giving it a unique profile, especially after maturing for 29 years.
The 29-year-old Canadian whisky is essentially a blend or a mixture of various whiskies, aged to maturity, with the oldest among them being 29 years, having matured in American oak barrels. Crown Royal whisky has a light amber hue, full of aromas of baked bread, spices, and charred wood. The taste includes roasted rye notes, warm spices, and a long, almost sweet finish. Only 6,000 bottles were released to the market.
