Visconti Dreaming Sunflowers: Van Gogh–Inspired Limited Edition Pen
Visconti unveils a limited edition of just 230 pieces, a luxury writing instrument inspired by “Sunflowers” by Vincent van Gogh, one of the most celebrated series of paintings ever created.
The influence of this iconic masterpiece is expressed, among other elements, through a design that embodies van Gogh’s signature impasto technique, in which thick layers of oil paint are applied to create a powerful sense of depth and movement. To evoke this effect, Visconti meticulously crafted parts of the pen in solid silver using the lost-wax casting technique, allowing for richly sculpted, tactile surfaces.
The metal base of the pen is adorned with hand-applied enamel in vibrant shades of orange, yellow, and green, echoing the dominant palette of the Sunflowers paintings. The enamel is carefully modeled to suggest the complex, expressive brushstrokes that define van Gogh’s work.
Further references to the artist’s world include a gold-plated silver clip shaped like a paintbrush, van Gogh’s signature engraved on the pen, and a dedicated display stand inspired by a round picture frame, reinforcing the dialogue between fine art and fine writing.
