Casa Cuixmala, located in Jalisco, Mexico, is a vast villa surrounded by approximately 100,000 acres of forest, mostly a nature reserve, and overlooking the Pacific Ocean with three kilometers of private beach.
In the early 1970s, British-Jewish millionaire James Goldsmith decided it was time to create a personal sanctuary in an exotic, secluded location, and built Casa Cuixmala in Jalisco, Mexico. The massive villa is surrounded by approximately 100,000 acres of forest, mostly a nature reserve, and faces the Pacific Ocean with three kilometers of private beach.
During Goldsmith’s time, the villa hosted presidents and prime ministers, including Ronald Reagan and Margaret Thatcher. After his death in 1997, his daughter transformed the grand villa into one of the world’s most luxurious hotels, featuring four spacious and impressive suites in the main building, as well as 12 luxurious bungalows nearby. Since its transformation into a hotel, it has hosted numerous celebrities, including Mick Jagger, Madonna, Bill Gates, and Tom Cruise.

The villa itself is a large structure, with the central wing at the front branching into two rear wings, and a massive dome prominently rising above the roof. The built complex includes internal courtyards, fountains, and viewpoints overlooking the blue ocean in the front or the lush jungle in the back.
In addition to hosting at a level that only significant wealth can afford, guests can enjoy a range of water sports, horseback riding, tennis, yoga classes, and spa treatments. There are also opportunities for exploring the area – on foot or by mountain bike – with the chance to spot rare birds, lurking crocodiles in the nearby lake, and perhaps even encounter a puma or jaguar at a safe distance.
