Tatuaje Tattoo Bonito
Founded in 2003 by Pete Johnson, Tatuaje is widely regarded as one of the pioneering boutique cigar brands that helped shape the premium cigar renaissance in the United States. Working alongside legendary cigar maker Don Pepín García at the My Father Cigars factory in Estelí, Nicaragua, Johnson developed Cuban-inspired blends that quickly earned a devoted following among enthusiasts seeking classic, full-flavored cigars without unnecessary embellishments. Among the brand’s most acclaimed lines are Reserva, Cojonu, and La Vérité, all positioned in the premium segment.
Introduced in 2014, the Tattoo line was designed to offer an everyday premium cigar at an accessible price while maintaining the craftsmanship and complexity associated with the Tatuaje name.
The Bonito vitola is a 6⅛ × 52 Torpedo, wrapped in a dark, oily Ecuadorian Habano wrapper with a rustic appearance over a Nicaraguan binder and filler. The cigar opens with bold notes of black pepper and dry cedar, gradually revealing flavors of dark cocoa and subtle leather. Medium to full-bodied, it burns evenly and produces an aromatic, satisfying smoke, demonstrating why Tatuaje has remained one of the industry’s most respected boutique brands for more than two decades.
