The Japanese automotive giant Honda is developing the world’s first lightweight intercontinental jet, the HondaJet 2600. This aircraft will offer a significantly greater range than other light jets—covering approximately 4,900 km, whereas most comparable jets do not exceed 3,300 km. Moreover, it is the first intercontinental jet that can be operated by a single pilot.
The HondaJet 2600 is the most advanced and spacious model in Honda’s successful line of jets, which debuted in late 2015 and quickly gained widespread acclaim. As a light-category jet, it is compact in size and designed to carry no more than 11 passengers. However, to ensure optimal flight efficiency, the actual number of passengers is typically recommended to be lower.

The HondaJet 2600 will reach a maximum speed of Mach 0.7, with fuel consumption approximately 20% lower than the average for other light jets and around 40% lower than comparable mid-size jets, according to the company. Additionally, its carbon dioxide emissions are significantly reduced. Advanced Honda-engineered technologies are designed to enhance flight comfort, incorporating cutting-edge systems that minimize noise and vibrations.
Compared to jets in its class, the 2600 will feature a cargo hold that is about 33% larger, allowing passengers to carry more luggage. For added convenience, the cabin will be equipped with 180-degree rotating seats, specialized footrests, and other comfort-enhancing features.
Bottom Line: Efficiency in a Lightweight Package
Price: $12 million
