Plasencia Cosecha 149 Gordito (Santa Fe)
A pure Honduran blend, crafted entirely from the 2014 harvest, gave Plasencia one of its most accomplished releases to date. The Cosecha 149 line is the first in the company’s history to feature tobacco grown exclusively in Honduras, all harvested during the 2014 crop year.
The Gordito, officially known as Santa Fe, is one of the thickest vitolas in the line, measuring 4¾ × 60, and offers a long, satisfying smoking experience with a generous ring gauge and substantial feel in the hand. The oily wrapper, with its rich chocolate-brown color and silky finish, is harvested late in the season from the mountainous Olancho San Agustín region. The binder comes from Jamastran, while the filler combines tobaccos from Talanga, Jamastran, and Olancho. Every leaf is processed at the family’s Tabacos de Oriente factory in Danlí, Honduras.
Medium to full-bodied, the cigar opens with dry spices, dark fruit, roasted notes, and hints of leather. As the smoke develops, flavors of toffee, coffee, and baking spices emerge, leading to a balanced finish highlighted by cocoa and roasted nuts. Flavor transitions are seamless, the smoking pace remains steady, and the construction stays consistent from start to finish.
