The 7th Edición Limitada of Hoyo de Monterrey faced delays—true to the tradition of such releases—but this time, it wasn’t just a matter of months. Instead, it took two full years. Finally, in June 2023, in Sofia, Bulgaria, the Hoyo de Monterrey Monterreyes No.4 was unveiled—a 2021 Limited Edition from Habanos S.A., named after the plantation where its tobacco is grown, nestled in the legendary Vuelta Abajo region.
It has been a decade since the brand’s last Edición Limitada—the Grand Epicure in 2013. The most notable feature of this long-awaited release is its vitola, Monterreyes No.4 (factory name Maravillas No.4), making its debut in the Cuban cigar portfolio. Measuring 5¾ x 55, this cigar follows the tradition of all Habanos S.A. Limited Editions since 2007, crafted from tobaccos aged for a minimum of two years. Presented in a lacquered cabinets boîte of ten cigars, it showcases the refined craftsmanship expected from this historic marca.
