“The most beautiful woman I have ever met.” This is how Hollywood actor Errol Flynn, who knew a thing or two about beautiful women, described Port Antonio, a small town in northeastern Jamaica where he anchored his private yacht in 1946. Romantic travelers who visit the town today still agree that it deserves this description.
The Trident Hotel in Port Antonio is situated next to a secluded beach, one of the most enchanting in the area, surrounded on all sides by lush vegetation and a bay of clear blue waters. The resort offers luxurious villas and suites, a pool, a private beach, a spa, a restaurant, a bar, and all the indulgences you could imagine.

In addition to all this, the area is full of attractions. It starts with the town itself, which in the 19th century was a key point in the banana and coconut export industry, and still retains its classic Jamaican look, with low wooden houses and colorful streets. The most famous attraction in the area is known as the “Blue Lagoon,” a natural water pool surrounded by vegetation. Its deep waters, about 70 meters, give it a vivid blue-green color.
You can also go rafting on the Rio Grande River, which in the days of the banana trade was used for transporting goods and has now been converted into a hub for sports tourism. There is an option for a guided boat tour along the river, which is more relaxing and less sporty, with stops at charming spots for swimming and more. Another attraction is visiting the Sommerset or Reach Falls as part of tours in the area’s nature reserves. But above all – the stunning beaches of Port Antonio: hidden from view, free from the tourist crowds that characterize other places on the island, and incredibly beautiful.
