A Luxury Pen Inspired by the Legendary Italian Lover
The Montegrappa Casanova is a luxury writing instrument inspired by Giacomo Casanova, combining Rococo influences with sterling silver, gold and leather. The collection is limited to just 300 pieces.
The story of Giacomo Casanova, the legendary Venetian adventurer, writer and lover whose name became synonymous with seduction, has inspired Italian luxury penmaker Montegrappa to create an exceptionally elaborate writing instrument.
The Montegrappa Casanova combines Neoclassical decorative influences with the ancient cloisonné technique traditionally used in metal decoration. The technique uses fine metal wires to create individual compartments across a surface, producing intricate ornamental patterns.
The pen’s overall aesthetic is strongly influenced by the extravagant Rococo style of the 18th century, the era in which Casanova lived. Its lavish detailing, elaborate ornamentation and precious materials evoke the atmosphere of Venetian aristocratic life.
The Casanova combines 925 sterling silver and leather, complemented by gold-plated silver finishes and an 18-karat gold nib.
Its body also conceals several playful design surprises that reference Casanova’s famously adventurous life, including a provocative discreet “peep door” incorporated into the design.
The collection is limited to only 300 pieces, comprising fountain pens and rollerballs. With its combination of Italian craftsmanship, precious materials and theatrical design, the Montegrappa Casanova transforms the legendary figure’s story into an extraordinary collectible writing instrument.
Fountain Pen Price: €7,895.
