The way to tell the dream—or perhaps the vision—of the Pagani Huayra is only possible through the eyes of its creator: Horacio Pagani, the man who, more than anyone else, imagined, crafted, and designed the car like the great artists of the past, who stood before a block of marble and extracted lifeless works of art from within it.
This is the most complex project to date for Pagani, which aimed to take the closed Huayra model to a higher level, in an open-roof roadster configuration. One of the significant challenges was to create a roadster version that would be lighter than the coupe, which was at the time the lightest in its category. Six years of development were required to achieve this result, producing only one hundred units.
The chassis blends composite materials such as carbon fibers together with titanium alongside a new material, Carbo-Triax, which played a key role in reducing tens of kilograms from the car’s weight. Additional structures, made of steel tubing, are located at load-bearing points at the front and rear.
Power comes from an AMG engine with 12 cylinders, displacing six liters, producing 764 horsepower and 100 kgm of torque. It’s rear-wheel drive, through a seven-speed gearbox. The total weight of the car is only 1,280 kg.
The driver’s compartment and passenger environment are among the most impressive in the automotive world, with exposed surfaces of carbon and fascinating interface points between soft suede leather and polished aluminum finishes. Of course, there is useful multimedia, powerful air conditioning, and even a transparent engine cover, allowing you to see the monstrous engine.
Bottom line: an exclusive monster.
