Patek Philippe has unveiled a new Grand Complication that adds a 24-hour alarm clock to its Travel Time family, with a dual time zone display. The alarm sound is created by striking a classic gong, as in minute repeater watches. For this purpose, Patek developed a new unified caliber, registering four new patents for the alarm clock mechanism. The development took five years, and the execution, as usual for this elite brand, is stunning. Aesthetically, the design resembles Patek’s Calatrava from 2015, which also bears the name Alarm Travel Time, with a nod to the early days of air travel. The platinum case is 42.2 mm in diameter and just 11.5 mm thick. The box’s minimalist look is reinforced by a sapphire crystal designed to allow clear reading of the indications. The numerals and hands are in white gold against a black background. Price: $210,000.
