This is a distinctive vintage Cognac produced from grapes harvested in an exceptional year, when perfectly ripe fruit reached its optimum condition at harvest.
The House of Renault traces its history back to 1835, when it was founded by Jean-Antonin Renault. Its long heritage forms the background to this special expression.
The Cognac is produced from grapes grown in Petite Champagne, one of the renowned crus of the Cognac region, distinguished by its particular terroir and soil characteristics.
The 1989 vintage represents a combination of favorable conditions – the location of the vineyards, the quality of the grapes and the timing of the harvest – together with the expertise of Master Blender David Croizet.
The spirit matured for an extended period in carefully selected French oak casks, characterized by dense-grained wood and gentle toasting. During its long ageing, the Cognac absorbed the character of the oak while developing in naturally regulated cellars ideally suited to prolonged maturation.
In the glass, it displays a beautiful amber-brown color.
The aromatic profile reveals generous notes of raisins and candied orange peel, followed by a palate that is smooth, delicate, rounded and full-bodied.
Elegant and refined, it can be enjoyed as either an aperitif or digestif, particularly by those who appreciate mature vintage Cognac.
One of the more distinguished expressions in the collection, it was released as a highly limited edition of just 660 bottles.
