The luxury brand Montblanc has produced a unique collection of writing instruments inspired by the world of the legendary Jimi Hendrix, the virtuoso “King of the Electric Guitar.” The collection includes two series.
The Special Edition series features a fountain pen, rollerball pen, and ballpoint pen. All caps are in cream-white, reminiscent of Hendrix’s Fender Stratocaster guitar. The top of the cap is engraved with the finger placement for the “Tritone” chord, which opens the single “Purple Haze.” The clip of the cap is curved at the end, resembling the shape of a tremolo bar on an electric guitar. The pen’s body is designed to look like a Wah-Wah pedal, a device Hendrix loved to use to alter his guitar sound.
The second series, Limited Edition 1942, marking the year of Hendrix’s birth, includes a fountain pen and a rollerball pen in shades of gold, red, and black – the colors of Hendrix’s last studio album, “Electric Ladyland.” The nib, made of 18-karat gold, is engraved with his portrait. The black finish of the pen cap mimics the color of Hendrix’s favorite Marshall Super Lead amplifier.
