In the Ozark Mountains in the northwest of the state of Arkansas, on a cliff overlooking the valley, there is a cave. However, at the entrance of the cave, there are doors and windows, and when you enter, you discover that it is indeed a cave, remarkably spacious, with a ceiling that climbs up to the top of the mountain. But it is also a hotel, Beckham Creek Cave Lodge, one of the most unique and enjoyable ones you’ll encounter.
The massive entrance space serves as a lobby, with chairs and small tables, but it is also adjacent to the open kitchen where the restaurant operates. Everything is within this one large ‘space’ inside the mountain.

When you enter, into the heart of the mountain, you arrive at the rooms, and there are four such rooms. The most luxurious is the ‘Honeymoon Suite,’ situated in a kind of inner cave and well-equipped, with a soft and comfortable bed, an upgraded bathroom with shower, a seating area, and a small table. But the most powerful presence here is that of the mountain itself – starting with the rugged and winding walls in a variety of shapes and colors from different geological periods, stalactites, natural seating areas, and everything you need to feel like you’re in a magnificent suite of the Dwarves’ kingdom – if you’re a fan of ‘The Lord of the Rings’ – or in a cave accommodation of the cave dwellers, if such a branch of the hospitality industry had developed back then.

If the next morning you feel the need to step into the open air, there are plenty of places to explore in the area. You can hike in the mountains, paddle in a kayak or perhaps in the White River, ride horses, and more.
