The 2023/24 Chinese Lunar New Year celebrations, marking the Year of the Rabbit, aligned almost perfectly with the 30th anniversary of one of Cohiba’s flagship series—Siglo (we’ll forgive the slight one-year delay). The Siglo line itself was originally launched to commemorate the 500th anniversary of Christopher Columbus’ arrival in Cuba.
The Cohiba Siglo de Oro Year of the Rabbit cigar introduces several innovations. First and foremost is the vitola—Exitoso (Spanish for “successful”), measuring 4½ x 54, a plump petit robusto making its debut. Another significant innovation comes in the realm of technology—for the first time in its history, Habanos S.A. has integrated an NFC chip into the series’ boxes, allowing aficionados to access additional product details while most importantly—combating counterfeiting.
The cigars are presented in luxurious boxes, each containing 18 cigars, with a total production of 18,888 boxes—a nod to Chinese culture, where the number 8 is considered highly auspicious. The cigars are available exclusively in full boxes.
