After years of success in the racing scene, Enzo Ferrari (the founder) sought a way to financially stabilize the brand bearing his name. He approached the Pininfarina design house to create a large and elegant coupé that would continue the lineage of the successful GT (Gran Turismo) cars from the 1950s. Upon the car’s unveiling in 1958 in Milan, an impressive touring car emerged, designed in the unique style of Pininfarina, a style that would accompany Ferrari for many decades in its most significant models. Its price: around $700,000.
