While Packard earned its prestigious reputation through the exceptional quality of its automobiles, the introduction of the 734 Speedster—produced exclusively for the 1930 model year—added another important attribute to the marque’s portfolio: performance.
The 734 belonged to Packard’s Eighth Series, which took its name from the eight-cylinder engine introduced with the range. The standard version produced 90 hp, while the Speedster, designed as a true “driver’s car,” delivered an impressive 145 hp.
Packard’s Eighth Series was produced from 1924 to 1936, with a brief return in 1938, and was offered in 11 different body configurations. Only 113 examples were built across all body styles, and today just 19 are known to survive.
This particular car has had only two owners over the course of its remarkable life, with each keeping it for approximately half a century.
Price: approximately $1.6 million
