Jason Mecier
American artist born in Los Angeles in 1968, currently living and working in San Francisco. He is known for creating detailed portraits of iconic pop culture figures using materials such as food and discarded objects that he collects, sorts, and arranges by color and shape. The artist lacks formal artistic training but draws inspiration from his grandmother, who was an artist and taught him to use anything he could find to create art.
In the 1990s, the artist created portraits from macaroni, and since 1995, he began working with candies, chewing gum, snacks, cereals, vegetables, pills, liquor bottles, matchsticks, cigarette butts, and discarded items. He successfully captures the individual style and essence of each portrayed figure in his portraits, including the sparkle and gaze in the eyes, the tilt of the head, nuances in the hair, clothing items, and more.

Among his famous portraits are depictions of Whitney Houston, Amy Winehouse, Michael Jackson, Madonna, Kim Kardashian, Lady Gaga, David Bowie, Donald Trump, Dolly Parton, and more. His use of everyday objects prompted several celebrities to send him items of their own for him to incorporate into their personal portraits.
