Delahaye 165 Replica 1938
French marque Delahaye rose to prominence in the late 1930s and, like many luxury manufacturers of that golden era, produced several true automotive masterpieces. One of them was the Delahaye 165. Developed from the earlier Delahaye 145, the model was the company’s answer to Mercedes-Benz’s dominant “Silver Arrows” racing machines.
The 165 was conceived as a civilized road-going version of the racing car, and the example pictured here is a meticulously crafted replica built by Coachsmithing in Wisconsin, USA. It is based on a 1932 Ford chassis, features Jaguar suspension components, and is powered by a 5.3-liter Jaguar V12 engine—the same family of engines that propelled the iconic Jaguar E-Type.
Unveiled in 2014, the car has spent most of its life at rest, accumulating just 26 miles on the odometer. Asking price: $165,000.
