A Lost Treasure – Byers SR100

This car represents the pinnacle of American sports car design from the golden age of the 1950s. When it graced the cover of the prestigious Road & Track magazine in 1957, the headline posed a bold question: “Could this be the most beautiful sports car in the world?”

It was a remarkable achievement for Jim Byers, who personally designed the car in 1956 and brought it to market soon after. The original version was called the Meteor, but Jim wasn’t fully satisfied with it. He refined the design by adding the signature high-swept rear fenders that curve gracefully over the back wheels—a subtle yet transformative change that turned a polarizing silhouette into a design success.

While it never reached mass-market appeal, only about 25 units were produced most built as fiberglass bodies mounted on Ford chassis. Today, one of these rare beauties commands a price of around $150,000.
