In celebration of its 150th anniversary, marking the milestone this year, S.T. Dupont, the Parisian luxury goods manufacturer, unveils a new limited edition of its iconic Complication lighter. This series incorporates elements from the world of horology, featuring advanced and intricate mechanisms. The previous iteration of the lighter consisted of no less than 300 precision parts, rubies, and other precious materials, and its theme was a functional safe that the lighter’s owner had to unlock to ignite a flame. This year, the Complication series is dedicated to the symbols of the good life, especially the casino.
The Casino Pocket Complication is a pocket lighter that contains an active roulette table. Beneath the glass window on one side of the lighter, the marvelous mechanism that propels the roulette wheel and the ball is visible. With a press of a button on the side, the roulette wheel begins to spin, and above it, in the opposite direction, the ball glides until it comes to rest on one of the numbers. Everything is in perfect harmony, and in the authentic colors of luxurious casinos that you hold right in the palm of your hand. This small wonder contains 26 rubies, commonly used in high-end watches, to prevent wear and tear of the mechanism and ensure smooth operation for decades. The back of the lighter features an engraved roulette wheel, and various casino-themed elements are etched in different places on the lighter – playing cards, dice, numbers, and even a dollar sign on the flame height adjuster.
The limited edition is restricted to only 88 units, which will be crafted exclusively based on advance orders. This allows the buyer to request personalized features for their lighter, such as engraving the initials next to the roulette wheel or incorporating precious stones corresponding to their lucky number. The lighter can be ordered in one of three metals – rose gold, yellow gold, or palladium.
