Grönefeld 1944 Tanfana – A New Era of Mythic Feminine Watchmaking
The Dutch watchmaking house Grönefeld unveils its first timepiece for women, the 1944 Tanfana. The watch is named after the goddess Tanfana, revered in Germanic paganism as a protector of peace and harmony. According to legend, her sanctuary once stood in the city of Oldenzaal in the Netherlands—the birthplace of the Grönefeld brothers—who chose to honor both this heritage and their mother’s birth year (1944) in the model’s name.
The dial is crafted from aventurine, a shimmering midnight-blue material flecked with metallic inclusions. Both the dial and a dedicated medallion feature the geometric Flower of Life motif, a symbol rooted in sacred geometry that explores the spiritual meaning of natural forms and proportions.
Measuring 37.5 mm, the watch is rendered in 5N rose gold and set with 233 brilliant-cut diamonds adorning the bezel, case, and buckle.
Price: €118,000.
