At six o'clock on the exposed caliber, you can see a tourbillon that appears to be suspended in the air, with a purple-colored balance wheel.

Voltaire’s Forgotten Legacy Returns in Rose Gold

A private and lesser-known brand, yet one of the oldest in watchmaking, was founded in 1770 by none other than the French philosopher Voltaire. After fading into obscurity, the brand was quietly resurrected in 2010, returning not with mass-market ambitions, but with a select series of highly sophisticated timepieces that stand out for their distinctive character and artisanal craftsmanship.

This particular model embodies that renaissance. Encased in polished rose gold, the watch measures 43mm in diameter and a refined 10.2mm in thickness. Sapphire crystal covers both the front and back, inviting a full view of the movement within—a caliber developed and finished in-house, as expected from a true haute horlogerie atelier.

The manually wound movement houses 17 jewels and delivers an impressive 108-hour power reserve. At six o’clock, the tourbillon reveals itself—seemingly suspended in air—highlighted by a purple-hued balance wheel that adds a subtle yet striking flourish.

A poetic blend of Enlightenment-era legacy and modern horological excellence, this piece is priced at approximately $130,000.
