Jacqueline’s story is a tale of love that had a profound influence on one of the greatest artists of the twentieth century, Pablo Picasso. Jacqueline Roque, his second wife, is described as the most powerful muse of the artist, who painted more portraits of her than of any other figure in his artistic life.

To commemorate fifty years since his death, and twenty-five years after the first collection dedicated to him, the French design house S.T. Dupont launched a collection of cigar accessories inspired by Picasso’s famous painting, “Portrait of Jacqueline with Straw Hat” (1962). Around that time, he also engraved drawings on three Dupont lighters and gifted them to his son, his estranged daughter, and his friend. One of them featured Faun, a half-man, half-goat figure from Roman mythology, a character that recurred in Picasso’s works and was considered his alter ego.

In 1998, the collection launched by Dupont to commemorate 25 years since Picasso’s death was dedicated to that same Faun. Since then, two more collections were launched in 2017 and 2018. This year, the collection is themed around the “Portrait of Jacqueline,” contrasting with the previous three with its vibrant and lively colors. It includes a cigar case, lighter, and ashtray. The cigar case, designed for three cigars, features a silver metal base with a white leather cover. One side showcases the painting, while the artist’s signature is embossed on the other side. The hand-painted ashtray displays the artwork in full size, making it suitable for horizontal display between cigars. The Ligne 2 lighter in the series, with a double flame and combining white lacquer and palladium, features the painting on one side and Picasso’s signature on the other.
Bottom line: Art and a good story are wonderful companions to cigars.
