Biltmore, North Carolina, USA
As the saying goes, everything is bigger in America. The largest private residence in the United States is the magnificent estate of the Vanderbilt family. This extraordinary property boasts hundreds of rooms, 65 fireplaces, a library containing around 10,000 volumes, an original Van Gogh painting, another by renowned American artist John Singer Sargent, and countless other treasures. In short, it is an estate of remarkable grandeur.

Among the many riches of the Vanderbilt estate are its vineyards, which cover roughly 790 acres (3,200 dunams). At their center stands the Biltmore Winery, established in 1985 and housed in a long, elegant building distinguished by its prominent clock tower. Despite its relatively young age, the winery has undergone several transformations, including changes in both winemakers and management, while steadily expanding production.
Today, Biltmore Winery produces nearly two million bottles annually under the direction of head winemaker Sharon Fenchak, whose winemaking philosophy reflects the French influence she acquired during her professional studies.

Biltmore Reserve Cabernet Franc 2019
According to grape DNA research, Cabernet Franc is regarded as the parent variety of both Cabernet Sauvignon and Sauvignon Blanc. Traditionally known as one of Bordeaux’s blending grapes, it has increasingly gained recognition as a distinctive varietal capable of producing wines with a unique identity.
This dry red wine displays a deep purple hue, full body, and commanding presence. Well-structured and complex, it rewards decanting and invites another taste after the bottle is opened. Rich flavors of black and dried fruits are complemented by black olives, mineral notes, graphite, and spices. The balanced tannins contribute to an elegant yet versatile wine that pairs beautifully with rich meats and blue cheeses.
A truly impressive wine.
