During the French Revolution, members of the family were briefly imprisoned. Later, under the inheritance laws introduced by Napoleon, the estate was divided among the family’s five children. In time, the property was further split between the male and female heirs. The women established Château Pichon Longueville Comtesse de Lalande, now recognized as one of the finest wines produced in Pauillac. The Pichon family retained ownership of Château Pichon Baron until 1925. Since then, the estate has changed hands several times while maintaining its reputation for uncompromising quality.
