If there’s one must-visit destination in Canada, it’s Vancouver Island—pastoral, lush, romantic, with a salty ocean breeze, low-hanging clouds, and yes, even mist.
On the shores of the Pacific Ocean, near the water, sits Shelter Point Distillery. Housed in a barn-like structure made of solid, heavy timber, it welcomes visitors with a nostalgic village charm, surrounded by the vibrant greenery of the landscape. The distillery is located on the eastern side of Vancouver Island, in a small village near Campbell River in British Columbia—a verdant spot set against vast fields of golden barley. From this very barley, the distillery crafts its whisky. The master distiller carefully blends casks of young Canadian whisky with barrels that once held American whiskey from Jack Daniel’s, ensuring a perfect harmony of flavors.

The Tasting: Shelter Point Artisanal Single Malt Whisky
For whisky enthusiasts, Canadian whisky tells a different story. Crafted from locally grown barley and distilled twice using the traditional method once common in Scotland, this whisky offers a unique experience.
With a rich mahogany hue, it reveals complex aromas of honey, caramel, charred oak, and a bold alcoholic presence. A few drops of water unlock its depth, allowing its full 46% ABV to shine.
