Allard J2 1950
The British boutique marque Allard, founded in London after World War I, specialized in building compact roadsters. The J2 models were designed primarily for the American market and were originally equipped with Ford flathead V8 engines producing either 85 or 110 horsepower.
Only 90 J2s were built between 1950 and 1951, and some were shipped to the United States without engines or transmissions. American buyers would then install the powertrain of their choice. In the case of this example, it received a Chrysler Hemi V8 producing an impressive 180 horsepower.
The distinctive wire wheels and externally mounted spare wheel were added in 1965. During the early 1950s, this car competed in several circuit races, while in more recent years it has appeared primarily at Concours d’Elegance events.
