The Rule of Three—Redefined
This exceptional timepiece follows the sacred “Rule of Three”—a trio of essential principles for precise timekeeping: high frequency, resistance to gravity, and reduced wear over time.
At the heart of the mechanism lies a remarkable drive chain. It features 585 hand-assembled links that keep constant tension throughout the movement. This system actively offsets the gradual loss of torque in the mainspring. As a result, the chain’s motion feels hypnotic—mechanical poetry in motion.
To combat gravity, the watch takes inspiration from marine compasses. A self-leveling platform holds the escapement securely in place. Engineers enclosed this intricate structure in a sapphire crystal bubble, adding a sense of depth and wonder. Inside the bubble, 173 components work together. Their coordinated motion, delivered through a complex gear system, ensures consistent timekeeping in every position.
Zenith excels in frequency, too. Notably, it was the first to industrialize a 5Hz caliber. While most watches tick at 4Hz—and many older ones at just 3Hz—this higher frequency delivers enhanced precision.
The case, crafted from rose gold, measures 45mm. It combines boldness with elegance. Moreover, Zenith produced only 25 of these timepieces, making each one rare and exclusive. With a price tag of around $300,000, this watch blends innovation, craftsmanship, and prestige.
