1960 Jaguar XK150 3.8 Drophead Coupe – Timeless British Elegance
The 1960 Jaguar XK150 3.8 Drophead Coupe is one of Jaguar’s fastest and most refined XK models. It runs on a powerful 3.8-liter inline-six engine, delivering 220 to 265 horsepower. In its day, it could exceed 200 km/h (124 mph), making it a true high-performance sports car of the early 1960s.
This model introduced several innovations. The curved windscreen gave it a modern, aerodynamic look. The side windows operated with a simple mechanical handle, a feature considered advanced at the time. The term “Drophead” refers to its folding soft-top roof, made from weatherproof black canvas.
When it left the factory, this car wore the iconic British Racing Green. During a full restoration in the United States, it received a fresh white finish. The 48-spoke chrome wire wheels and whitewall tires add to its classic appeal.
Even at 63 years old, the XK150 still feels fresh and exciting to drive. Its four-speed manual gearbox and balanced handling keep it engaging on the road. Recently, this beautifully restored example sold for $145,600, confirming its place among the most desirable vintage convertibles.
