Lexus LY680: The Brand’s Flagship Luxury Yacht
Lexus, Toyota’s luxury brand, is extending its presence on the water with the LY680, a sophisticated luxury motor yacht measuring approximately 21 metres. The yacht is an evolution of the successful LY650, introduced in 2018, and is built by Taiwan-based Horizon Group, one of Asia’s leading builders of bespoke luxury yachts.
The design of the LY680 embodies Lexus’ signature L-finesse philosophy, with meticulous attention to detail. Its sharp, clean lines combine elegance with a powerful visual presence, enhanced by refined silver and copper tones.
As with Lexus automobiles, craftsmanship plays a central role. The yacht draws inspiration from the Japanese Takumi tradition of master craftsmanship, in which exceptional skill is developed through tens of thousands of hours of training. Its design philosophy is also influenced by the Japanese concept of Omotenashi — anticipating guests’ needs and placing hospitality at the heart of the experience.
True to the Lexus philosophy, considerable attention has also been given to advanced construction processes inspired by the Toyota Production System.
Designed to offer what Lexus describes as a private retreat at sea, the spacious and luxurious interior features a fully equipped galley, comfortable lounge areas and an elegant master suite. Additional guest accommodation provides six more berths, while the yacht can host up to 15 people for daytime cruising and entertaining.
One of the most significant changes compared with its predecessor is the 1.4-metre extension of the flybridge, creating substantially more space for an indulgent lounge area, bar and barbecue grill.
The swim platform has also been extended by 700 mm, providing additional space for personal watercraft and easier access to a variety of watersports activities.
The LY680 is powered by twin Volvo Penta IPS engines, with two available power configurations delivering approximately 1,578 or 1,972 horsepower combined, depending on specification.
