Jean Fillioux Cognac, like the other Cognacs featured alongside it, originates from grapes grown in Grande Champagne, the prestigious heart of the Cognac region.
The fundamentals may be similar, but every Cognac carries its own signature. The same renowned terroir, similar grape varieties and the traditional method of double distillation can still produce remarkably different results.
These Cognacs are created by small houses, where production retains an individual, artisanal character.
The name “Cigar Club” is particularly appropriate for this expression. It proved to be an ideal companion for a refined, smooth cigar with an effortless draw.
The Cognac displays a delicate amber color and is immediately approachable and smooth – even before the cigar is lit.
Rounded and elegant on the palate, it gently caresses the tongue while releasing aromas reminiscent of maple syrup, honey and a subtle touch of smoke.
Once the cigar is burning, its smoke surrounds the Cognac and the two begin to complement one another in remarkable harmony.
The spirit is rich and full-bodied, with an earthy character and fragrant spices adding further depth and complexity.
The finish is long, delicate and slightly sweet.
After tasting it, I am more than ready to join the Jean Fillioux fan club.
