Maserati 3500 GTi Spyder. Born from difficulty
Maserati tried its hand at luxurious GT models shortly after World War II. In the wake of Maserati’s retreat from the racing scene, its entry into the prestigious and financially demanding world of grand touring was well-received, both by the public and the company’s management. However, the limited production capacity of the factory became a hindrance, stifling growth as it was unable to meet demand. Thus, the 3500 was born on a faster, more modern production line, featuring a very attractive and updated design by the bodybuilders Vignale. In 1960, the GTi variant was introduced, equipped with fuel injection—the first Italian car to feature this—and an output of 232 horsepower. Price: $605,000.
