Electric Pagoda: The Mercedes-Benz W113 Reimagined
The Mercedes-Benz Pagoda W113 debuted in 1963 and quickly earned a unique status. Its elegant two-seater body (shown here in refined Horizon Blue) and distinctive concave removable hardtop allowed it to transform easily from a closed coupe to a breezy summer roadster. Produced until 1971, the Pagoda broke new ground in sportiness and refinement by using aluminum body parts. Some models even featured a small rear seat, perfect for children or pets. All versions came with inline six-cylinder engines ranging from 2.3 to 2.8 liters.
A Collector’s Dream
Today, the Pagoda is a highly sought-after collector’s car. Well-preserved examples sell for over $300,000. However, even with careful maintenance, these vintage cars face challenges. They often suffer from oil leaks, need frequent engine tuning, and have high emissions.
Enter the Electric Conversion
Specialized workshops now offer a solution: converting the original engine and gearbox to a modern electric powertrain with a compatible battery. British company Everrati leads in converting classic petrol cars into pure electric vehicles.
The Everrati Electric Pagoda
Everrati’s electric Pagoda delivers 300 horsepower, a significant boost from the original 174 hp 2.8-liter engine. It offers a driving range of 320 km (200 miles) on a full charge. Despite the added weight of the battery pack, top speed (198 km/h) and acceleration (0-100 km/h in 7 seconds) remain similar to the original car.
Owners can keep their original engine and transmission, allowing them to switch back if they prefer the classic setup. The electric upgrade provides a smoother, quieter ride, blending timeless style with modern technology.
