Montblanc continues its longstanding tradition of honoring the world’s most influential literary figures with its prestigious Writers Edition. This edition pays tribute to the life and legacy of Johann Wolfgang von Goethe—one of history’s most versatile and celebrated minds: a writer, poet, playwright, philosopher, statesman, and scientist.
The collection was developed in collaboration with the Klassik Stiftung Weimar and the Goethe National Museum in Weimar, ensuring historical authenticity and cultural depth.
Featured here is the 1808 edition – “The Statesman”, a limited-edition pen that reflects Goethe’s role as a political figure. The name references the year his monumental work Faust was published, marking a defining moment in literary history.
The pen incorporates design elements inspired by Goethe’s political and cultural contributions. Its deep carmine red lacquer finish is a tribute to the ceremonial sash he was known to wear, while gold-plated details echo the prestigious order of knighthood he received for his service to the Weimar court.
A particularly meaningful feature is an engraved sketch inspired by Goethe’s reflections on the human spirit—symbolizing the forces of nature and humanity’s intrinsic connection to them.
