Nahvalur: A Rising Star in the World of Fine Pens
Founded in 2019 in California, Nahvalur is a relatively new name in the realm of fine writing instruments. Despite its American origins, the company primarily manufactures in China and draws inspiration from the mystical and magical creatures of Icelandic mythology, as reflected in its name. Nahvalur’s mission is clear: to “spread the joy of writing” through its exceptional pens.
One standout creation is the Ikkaku Pan-Long pen, a design inspired by the Chinese dragon—a symbol of luck, power, and grandeur. Released in honor of the Year of the Dragon, this pen incorporates intricate motifs associated with dragon mythology, including flames, clouds, and waves. The design also features fine lines and dots that represent the dragon’s body and its dynamic movements.
Crafted using the traditional Chinese Chinkin technique, also known as “gold inlay,” the pen showcases a meticulous blend of artistry and precision. It is adorned with gold detailing and equipped with a handcrafted 14-karat gold nib.
The Ikkaku Pan-Long is as much a collector’s piece as it is a writing instrument, with a price reflecting its craftsmanship: approximately $1,900.
