Bovet’s Astronomical Marvel: The Solar System on Your Wrist
This is an astronomical watch—both in concept and in cost. Swiss maison Bovet continues its cosmic trilogy with a timepiece that brings the solar system to life in 472 mechanical parts.
Following the Falling Star and last year’s star map edition, this third model features a miniature mechanical universe. At its center, a tourbillon represents the sun. The Earth rotates on its axis, surrounded by a moonphase display accurate to the real 29.53-day lunar cycle.
The dial is a showcase of complications: a retrograde minute hand, a magnifier for the date, and a luminous ring integrated into the movement to highlight the date. On the reverse side, a hand-engraved bridge frames calendar windows for the month, day, and year—plus a rear view of the tourbillon.
Powering it all is a complex in-house caliber with 472 components, a nine-day power reserve, and a single mainspring. The 46.3mm red gold case, standing 19.6mm tall, is designed as part of the movement’s visual impact. A black leather strap completes this horological statement.
Price: $467,000 • Limited to 60 pieces
Bottom line: The solar system, engineered and hand-assembled—on your wrist.
