Comitti The Congreve. Timepiece
The founder of the Comitti brand was an Italian immigrant who established a workshop in London in the late 19th century, and this particular clock has earned exceptional acclaim. It’s a desk clock where time measurement is regulated by a steel ball moving at a constant pace on a track that alters its angle. The clock bears the name of its inventor, Sir William Congreve, who also invented solid fuel rockets used by the English in battles against Napoleon. The original clock was gifted to the Prince of Wales in 1808 and has been on display since. It’s estimated that the clock’s initial use was primarily military, and its inventor, the mechanism, employed a spherical bob pendulum for timekeeping purposes.
Price: Approximately $14,000.
