The roots of independent Swiss watchmaker Czapek stretch back to the 19th century and its founder, François Czapek, who mysteriously disappeared from historical records in 1871.
More than a century later, the Czapek name was revived in 2012, returning to the world of fine watchmaking with an approach that combines historical tradition with meticulous modern production.
The classically styled Quai des Bergues No. 25 M featured here continues that philosophy. Measuring 40.5 mm in diameter, the watch presents an elegant interpretation of traditional Swiss watchmaking while drawing clear inspiration from Czapek’s historical pocket watches.
One defining feature is its asymmetrical dial layout, inspired by 19th-century pocket watches. The dial itself is crafted using the demanding Grand Feu enamel technique, a traditional process prized in haute horlogerie for its depth, brilliance and enduring appearance.
The watch is powered by a mechanical caliber offering an impressive seven-day power reserve. A distinctive subdial provides information on both the remaining power reserve and the day of the week, adding practical functionality without compromising the watch’s classical character.
Czapek also offers several personalization options. Owners can choose details such as the style of the hands and, for an additional charge, even add a hidden “secret sentence”, giving the watch an unusually personal dimension.
The Czapek Quai des Bergues No. 25 M is therefore more than an elegant Swiss timepiece. It represents the revival of a historic watchmaking name and the continuation of a tradition that bridges 19th-century craftsmanship with contemporary independent horology.
