Legendary watch designer Gérald Genta, the creative mind behind some of the most recognizable watches in modern horology – including the Patek Philippe Nautilus and Audemars Piguet Royal Oak – passed away in 2011, but his name and unmistakable design legacy live on.
Today, the Gérald Genta brand continues under the umbrella of the LVMH Group, bringing the celebrated designer’s aesthetic language into a new era of contemporary watchmaking.
The Geneva Time Only Marrone is a modern reinterpretation of Gérald Genta’s Geneva watches from the 1970s, instantly recognizable by their characteristic cushion-shaped cases.
For this contemporary interpretation, the case has been subtly redesigned with more modern proportions and sophisticated finishing. Different surface treatments create an interplay of light across the case, emphasizing its sculptural architecture.
Another distinctive element is the gadroon, a rounded decorative groove that has become one of the recognizable signatures associated with Gérald Genta’s design language.
The Geneva Time Only is offered in two precious-metal interpretations. The Marrone version, featured here, combines a 4N red-gold case with a dial executed in rich shades of brown, creating a warm and sophisticated appearance.
The more understated Grafite version features a white-gold case paired with a silver-toned dial.
True to its name, the dial follows a deliberately minimalist Time Only philosophy. Rather than introducing additional complications, the design focuses on displaying the time with clarity and elegance, making the watch particularly suitable for refined everyday wear.
