Girard-Perregaux Laureato Tourbillon: Where Sporty Meets Sophisticated
The Laureato by Girard-Perregaux holds its own in the elite circle of luxury sports watches—alongside icons like the Audemars Piguet Royal Oak and Patek Philippe Nautilus. Like them, it embraces a distinctive design language born in the mid-1970s, blending refined aesthetics with sporty appeal.
Originally launched as a quartz model during the height of the Japanese watch crisis, the Laureato has since evolved significantly. Today’s version is a true statement of haute horlogerie. Its standout feature is a Clous de Paris dial, showcasing a grid of tiny embossed squares that lend texture and depth to the face.
At the heart of the watch is a high-end mechanical caliber, equipped with a tourbillon housed in a lyre-shaped titanium cage—a nod to classical music heritage. The movement includes 81 intricate components, is self-winding via a rotor, and also allows for manual winding, with a power reserve of 48 hours. The beautifully finished movement is visible through a sapphire crystal caseback, underscoring the craftsmanship within.
On the sportier side, the Laureato features a 43mm titanium case paired with a matching titanium bracelet, ensuring both durability and lightweight comfort. It’s water-resistant to 30 meters, making it resilient enough for daily wear while maintaining its elegant persona.
