Rolex Cosmograph Daytona
The Daytona chronograph family was born in 1963. Rolex’s Daytona chronograph family was born in 1963. It is Rolex’s only Chronograph watch and has established itself as an icon over the years, largely due to its exposure in motorsport and its use by celebrities like Paul Newman and many others.
After last year’s revamp of the Daytona from the ground up, creating an unprecedented demand for this model, Rolex now unveils a particularly luxurious version of it, following the trend of setting precious stones in luxury watches – a trend we mainly see in the American market. The base for this creation is a Daytona made of pink gold, with a bezel that, instead of the traditional tachymeter scale, is set with sapphires, creating a rainbow sequence of colors. But it’s not just the sapphires that tell the time – there are also 56 white diamonds on the watch’s body itself. It’s also worth mentioning the background of the small hands, which underwent a process to achieve a special texture and play with the reflected light.
As is customary at Rolex, the material – the same pink gold – is a proprietary alloy with unique tones for the brand. It is used for the case, which has a diameter of 40mm, and also for the bracelet, with an Oyster structure that is synonymous with Rolex. The movement itself is the 4130 caliber – the same caliber that serves all modern versions of the Daytona, with automatic winding and a power reserve of 72 hours. The watch is water-resistant up to 100 meters.
